Alver Vegan Protein Pasta with Red Pesto Sauce

Often, during the week, we crave a light, nourishing and quickly prepared meal for lunch. Pasta dishes are perfect! Al dente in just a few minutes with little effort involved, are Penne, Fusilli & Co. the ideal solution. They can be enjoyed hot with sauces or cold as a salad. One pot of pasta = several different meals! And nothing gets thrown away…

Our vegan protein pasta is made in Switzerland with durum wheat flour, mung bean, Golden Chlorella and water and tastes just like the pasta you know and love! It contains 20% plant protein and is rich in zinc, phosphorus, iron, vitamin B1 and B2.

At the moment, we offer two shapes- Penne and Fusilli – and we are always working on perfecting several other types. You can leave us a comment with your preferred pasta here. We’ll let you know when it becomes available!

Alver Vegan Protein Pasta Salad Fusilli

Below is a simple recipe for a red pesto sauce that accompanies our pasta perfectly:

Ingredient List

  • 1⁄2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, drained and chopped
  • 3 cups fresh basil leaves (loosely packed)
  • 3-4 cloves fresh garlic
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon Alver Vegan Protein
  • 1⁄2 cup pine nuts or 1⁄2 cup walnuts
  • 1⁄2 cup olive oil
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon salt
  • black pepper

Cooking Instructions

In a food processor, blend the tomatoes, basil and garlic. Then add Alver Vegan Protein powder, nuts and 1/4 cup olive oil; blend well. Then add the remaining 1/4 cup olive oil, salt and pepper; blend well again. Store in the fridge, or separate evenly in ice cube containers and freeze. Use in pasta dishes.

Although the health benefits of a plant-based diet are well documented, there is still concern that nutrient intake, including protein, may be reduced and cause deficiencies in the long-term. A recent study showed that mung bean protein significantly improves muscle strength in healthy adults who eat plant-based and are underactive. The connection between plant protein supplements and higher strength despite the lack of physical exercise is a new finding.
